Planning
and Managing a Distance Learning Program
2-day workshop for up to 10 participants
Managers of distance learning programs will learn how to plan
and manage various situations that arise with distance learning.
They will learn the basics of distance learning – from defining
and deploying to selecting instructors. They will learn how to
write effective policies and procedures, how to set objectives
for training new distance learning instructors, and how to evaluate
distance learning programs and instructors.

Distance
Learning: Train- the-Trainer for Interactive Video Teletraining
(IVT)
5-day workshop for up to 10 participants
Participants learn how to plan and organize their course, apply
course conversion and visual design principles, prepare effective
learner support materials, use practice tools to increase learner
participation, review components required for evaluating an interactive
video teletraining course, and acquire on-camera presentation
skills for successful delivery. Participants will have an understanding
of the capabilities and limitations of interactive teletraining.
This hands-on workshop requires participants to bring course materials
they've used in the past. These materials will be used to apply
the principles taught during this workshop. Each participant will
work one-on-one with a DTS instructor and will be required present
a 15-minute distance learning presentation for evaluation by DTS’s
instructor.

Distance
Learning Course Design and Content Development
2-day workshop for up to 10 participants
Participants will learn how integrate multimedia and visual tools
into a distance learning format, including video, presentation
graphics and the Internet. They will learn how to encourage active
learner involvement and interaction through a variety of activities,
questioning techniques, and use of learner support materials.
This hands-on workshop requires participants to bring instructor-led
course materials that will then be used to apply the principles
taught during this workshop.

Media
Selection for Distance Learning
1-day workshop for up to 10 participants
Participants will be able to define the modalities of learning
and how to compare the effectiveness of each. Various media selection
tools will be explored that allow participants to select the best
method for the delivery of their course based on the course objectives,
design and delivery costs, associated travel, and living expenses.

How
to Increase Participant Interaction
1-day workshop for up to 10 participants
This workshop is for participants who are experienced in the basics
of distance learning but want to enhance learner participation
within their courses. Participants are taught how to plan, design,
implement, and evaluate a variety of learner activities.

Evaluating
Distance Learning Courses
1-day workshop for up to 10 participants
Participants will learn the fundamental differences between evaluating
instructor-led courses and distance learning courses. These areas
include: learner satisfaction, instructor satisfaction, course
development, and administration review.

On-Camera
Presentation and Presence Skills
1-day workshop for up to 5 participants
Participants are taught how to successfully open and close a distance
learning session for the greatest impact on the learners. They
will learn the fundamentals of verbal and nonverbal communication
and how the instructor’s dress and appearance can affect
the learners overall satisfaction with a video based course delivery.
Participants will be required to present these skills at the end
of the workshop.

Videoconferencing
Basics
1/2-day workshop for up to 5 participants
This workshop is for participants who are familiar with the basic
equipment operation. Participants learn the importance of camera
pre-sets, dress and appearance for on-camera presence, and videoconferencing
etiquette for successful business meetings.

Training for Instructors and Presenters
Videoconferencing Systems
1/2-day workshop for up to 5 participants
This workshop is customized for the specific videoconferencing
system located at the client’s site. The basics of placing
and answering calls, operating the control system(s), setting
camera presets, and operation of associated peripherals are demonstrated.
Basic trouble shooting techniques will be provided. Hands-on practice
will be scheduled for each participant. (This course is often
taught in conjunction with Videoconferencing
Basics.)

Training for Instructors and Presenters
Student Response Systems
1 or 2 day workshop(s) for up to 10 participants
This workshop is customized for the specific student response
system located at the client’s site. The basic functionality
of the hardware and software associated with student response
systems are demonstrated. Hands-on practice will be scheduled
for each participant.
